First Patrol Camp of 2019

Date: 26th Mar 2019 Author: Ingrid Hodges

At the end of March, eight of our Scouts took part in our first patrol camp of the 2019 camping season. Using our private campsite at Boxhill, Surrey the Scouts took part in lots of traditional camping activities like tent pitching, cooking and fire lighting. In addition they took part in a wide game on Headley Heath, made and launched their own water rockets and practiced their air rifle shooting skills. The highlight of the weekend was an afternoon at High Ashurst Outdoor Activity Centre to brave the ‘leap of faith’ and some ‘adventurous’ crate stacking.

Our Scout Leader said, ‘ Having our own campsite is a fantastic asset. It enables us to easily and conveniently offer all of our Scouts a chance to experience a nights away activity as well as learning and developing their camping, teamwork and leadership skills. Weekend camps are a great introduction to scout camping as we head towards our main week long summer camp, which this year will be held in Wiltshire towards the end of July’.
