About us

Each week, 1st Cheam provides fun, challenge and adventure to boys and girls in the Cheam Village area enabling them to develop skills for life.

About us

Scouting with 1st Cheam is all about meeting new friends, sharing adventures and making the most of life’s opportunities. We make it as easy and safe as possible for young people to push the boundaries of their own experience.

Our regular meetings are held at our own Headquarters building in Cheam from where we run various activities, making full use of the nearby Nonsuch Park and with occasional trips to our private campsite a short distance away at Box Hill.

We also offer other activities in addition to our weekly programmes, appropriate to each age range including for example,

  • fun days,
  • visits and excursions,
  • camping,
  • canal cruising holidays
  • hill walking trips.

Subscriptions

1st Cheam, as do all Scout Groups, asks its members to pay an annual subscription. This covers registration with the Scout Association to ensure insurance cover, as well as training expenses and the on-going running costs of the Group including the maintenance of our Headquarters and camp site. Subscriptions are paid by bank standing order either annually in April or monthly. Full details are given when members are invested. The rate is currently £180 per year including £50 Scout Association ‘Membership fee’.
