Beaver Scouts

Beavers make friends and try new activities

Beaver Scouts (6-8)

Our Beaver Colony is really popular so it’s advisable to apply to join well ahead of 6 years of age.

Beaver Scouts are our youngest members. They meet weekly to take part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing, visits and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities.

Our adventurous programmes aim to offer the widest range of activities for young people in this age range to encourage them to become self-reliant, self-confident and an asset to the community.

Working in their ‘lodges’ our Beavers will also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of camps and sleepovers. It may be the first time they spend a night away from home so it’s a real adventure for them.

In our Colony we play games, learn about ourselves, we work on different areas of our Challenge Badges and visit places of interest. Last year we grew some tomatoes and radishes for our gardener’s activity badge and sometimes join the Cubs for extra fun and excitement. Many of the Beavers will transfer to our Cub Pack when they are approaching 8 years of age.

We also concentrate on enabling our Beavers to work through their skills and challenge badges and to gain the Chief Scout Bronze award
