Baden PowellWe are part of the world wide Scout Movement founded in 1907 by Lord Robert Baden-Powell and we adhere to all the policies and principles of the Scout Association.

We have flourished in Cheam since 1928.

From 1st January 2007 all sections of the Scout Movement are open to boys and girls.

We run a Beaver Colony for boys and girls (6 to 8).

Also sections for Cub Scouts (8 -10.5) and Scouts (10.5 – 14), both mixed and for boys only.

Young people aged 14 to 18 become members of the local Explorer Scouts.

We offer the full range of scouting activities through these weekly section meetings, plus expeditions and outdoor activities and annual camps under canvas.

All these are subject to the availability of appropriate leaders. All leaders are volunteers who receive a high level of training under the authority of the Scout Association. They meet all the current statutory requirements for working with young people.

Leaders are supported by adult-helpers without whom the weekly meetings and other activities could not take place. When your child joins the Group we trust you will be willing to join the helpers’ rota – you should find it fun, not arduous, and your help is essential to us! Some parents may be able and willing to take an even more active role on our Group Executive and Fund Raising Committees, especially if they have specialist skills.

Children wishing to join Beavers and Cub Scouts are placed on a waiting list on a first come, first served basis. The annual number which can be admitted to Beavers is restricted but we are usually able to offer places to children registered before their 6th birthday. After this we run a reserve list or offer admission to Cubs at 8. In this event we will advise you of the situation by telephone.

Because our numbers are limited we urge you not to seek a place for your daughter if she is a member of Rainbows or Brownie Guides.

All sections have a uniform and an annual subscription. Details will be given to you by the section leader.
If your child is interested in joining us, please read the above details and either print a copy of the application form, complete it and return to:
