In June 2008 invites were issued via every pack for Cubs to join an exciting adventure to a cub jamboree at Gilwell Park. A week of fun under canvas at the home of Scouting.
Sutton Badge
Several Leaders immediately agreed to join the team to run this adventure. We then started to get replies from Cubs who wanted to join us so we designed and produced a Badge that The County Commissioner approved and the ball had started rolling so to speak There were Cubs from different groups so we also ordered distinctive scarves to make us a contingent scarf

The first meeting of the Sutton Contingent occurred on the 4th October. Neckerchiefs were issued to the leaders who had committed to this activity by our DC Chris Williams. The cubs began by ironing the transfers of our special badge onto t-shirts, to provide a consistent image across the district.

painted masks
The theme of Cubjam was ‘Carnivals’ and as we had six sixes of Cubs going we selected jewels as the names which corresponded to the colour allocated to each six. Topaz, Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, Amber and Amethyst. We painted masks the colour of the jewels yellow, blue, red, green, orange and lilac.
Our contingent would be on the Notting Hill Sub Camp and this was the team Andy Glass, Jason Farmer, Susan Peek and two explorers. On our Sub camp would be Cubs from Hove, Gloucester, Bennetts End, Richmond, Odiham, Aldershot and many more Sub camp team The other two Sub camps were Rio and New Orleans and there would be Cubs from Guernsey too.

The next event for all the participants was the sleepover in March 2009. This would motivate and encourage teamwork in their sixes, establish parameters and rules. Musical instruments of clackers and shakers were made, masks were decorated and ideas of global issues for floats and costumes were discussed. The contingent were also visited by Andy Glass,

The three trek cart floats would be along the themes of;

         Global warming/ melting polar ice caps           Acid rain/ deforestation           Recycling/ Endangered Species.
